A small woven square with fringe extending from top and bottom. Petal-like lobes along two opposing edges indicate a continuous denim strip inserted throughout. Alternating bands of dark and light blue in four symmetrical bays of varying widths.

Statement from the Artist
This sample is a test for a larger rug / piece, inspired by the beautifule hand-drawn block patterns by John Landes and the many ways to translate them into handwoven textiles. Using rep weave at a slightly less dense set, I wanted to test ways to repurpose worn out clothing, where the fabric is still seen and part of the subtle texture/color variation in the blocks but maybe not immediately obvious on first look. The jeans in this sample belonged to my partner, Karl Larson.
