Statement from the Artist
These pants were inspired by thrift store finds of chamois shirts in a soft peachy fabric that used to be everywhere and now is nowhere. The color reminded me of terra cotta clay, a medium I experimented with for three or four years around 1992. The pants were made as if sculpting with blobs of clay. I also think about Louise Bourgeois’s pink knit sculptures.
