Statement from the Artist
A local coffee company posted “free burlap bags” on Craigslist and I was stirred. In an attempt to conceal the coffee bag quality I haphazardly painted the bags in a black wash before cutting them into strips and weaving. This rug is the culmination of a couple experiments, flailing gestures, and a winter of grief.
